Coaching
Served as the primary design coach for ~30 students across six quarters of Stanford's "Design & Making" course. Informally coached hundreds more students through everyday interactions in Stanford's Product Realization Lab makerspaces.
Coached ~15 design teams of MIT students in courses: "Introduction to Design," "Toy Design," "Design for Scale," "D-Lab Biodiversity / Earth," and "D-Lab Development." These projects ranged from interactive children's toys to a gearbox for a Zambian micro-hydroelectric generator to a "living machine."
Coached 5 multicultural design teams at International Development Design Summits (IDDSes) in Ghana (2011), Netherlands (2011), Brazil (2012), Zambia (2013, 2016) on projects ranging from a neem oil aerosolization for malaria prevention to a kiln for producing charcoal briquettes from agricultural waste.
Mentored 23 MIT and IDDS alumni turned social entrepreneurs (see "Scale-Ups Fellows") as they scaled their hardware products and ventures in Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
